Veronica Bradley, mother of Vera Bradley's co-founder Barbara Baekgaard was born on August 9, 1909. In the 1930s Veronica was personally chosen by Elizabeth Arden to become a model and it was Veronica's classic style and grace that inspired Barbara and Patricia to name their company after her in 1982. Veronica worked for the company as a sales representative in Miami until she died in the early 1990s. She always lived a full, fun and colorful life and the fashions and styles of her daughter Barbara are reflective of her life and influence on the company. Since 1993, the Vera Bradley foundation for breast cancer has raised $25.7 million in contributions to date. Vera Bradley is actively involved in breast Cancer research and prevention.
